What does Ohio have in common with Arizona, California, Florida, Maryland and Massachusetts? All have banned pork from their prison systems. Seems like Muslim inmates at these prisons don’t like the idea of pork being prepared in the same kitchens as the food they are expected to ingest. After all, the “pork” might contaminate THEIR food.
And why did the Ohio prison system capitulate to this outrageous demand? Two Muslim prison inmates filed a lawsuit claiming that the prison system’s failure to provide “halal” meals, prepared according to Islamic teachings, is a restraint on his religious freedom. One of the prisoners, Abdul Awkal, is on death row for murdering his estranged wife and brother-in-law. The other, Cornelius Causey, is serving 15 to life for murder and robbery.
Prison officials have offered vegetarian and non-pork meals. But that isn’t enough for the two murderers. They demand that their meals be prepared in a specific fashion, i.e., animals must be butchered by slitting their throats and draining their blood, to conform to Islamic beliefs. The prison says that removing pork completely from the menu is the only way to ensure the two murderers will be served “clean” food.
Hard to believe, isn’t it? What about the rights of the prisoners who enjoy a meal of pork and don’t care how it is slaughtered? What about Jewish prisoners who also don’t eat pork but have not demanded it be removed from the menu? They seem to find something to eat without filing lawsuits.
I maintain that if Muslims don’t like prison food, then they shouldn’t commit crimes. But since they are under control of the state they should be given no dining favors except for vegetarian meals. The fact that pork is banned because if offends two Muslims should chill every American. This is a glaring example of Creeping Sharia Law invading our institutions and courts.
This is America! If they don’t want to comply with our laws and traditions, then stay the heck out of our country. And if while here they commit a crime that lands them in the jailhouse, then they should shut up and eat what they’re served and be thankful they even get a meal.
There are plenty of prisons in third world countries, namely The Middle East, where they not only wouldn’t have a say in their meals, they wouldn’t even get a trial. They’d be tortured and very likely beheaded.
If given a choice, beheading or eating pork, I bet these model citizens would choose pork.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, IT DOESN'T WORK-OBAMACARE

Mass. Medical Plan Foretells Obamacare’s Ills
Five years ago, Massachusetts’ then-Gov. Mitt Romney approved a new medical plan that requires almost all state residents to have health insurance, just as Obamacare’s individual mandate would for the entire nation.
Today in Massachusetts, the wait time to see a doctor can be as long as seven weeks, and many doctors won’t accept patients in the subsidized insurance program. That does not bode well for national healthcare reform if it is fully implemented as planned by President Barack Obama and the Democrats.
A new study by the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS), which has 23,000 physicians and student members and publishes the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine, takes an in-depth look at healthcare in Massachusetts under the state program, which is often regarded as a model for Obama’s 2010 healthcare reforms. Among its findings:
• The average wait time for an appointment with an internist is 48 days, and the wait time to see a family physician is 36 days.
• The average wait time for pediatricians is 24 days, according to the MMS’s “2011 Study of Patient Access to Health Care.”
• Access to primary care physicians is becoming more restricted — 53 percent of family physicians and 51 percent of internists are not accepting new patients.
• Patients wait an average of 43 days to see a gastroenterologist, and 41 days to see an obstetrician/gynecologist.
• While 87 percent of family physicians accept Medicare, only 62 percent accept MassHealth, the state’s version of Medicaid.
• Only 56 percent of family physicians and 43 percent of internists accept Commonwealth Care, an insurance program for adults who don’t have private health insurance and don’t qualify for Medicare. Just 44 percent of family physicians and 35 percent of internists accept Commonwealth Choice, a program for uninsured adults that offers unsubsidized health insurance to people who are not eligible for Medicaid or Commonwealth Care.
• Due, in part, to a shortage of doctors participating in the program, the number of emergency room visits has actually risen under the Massachusetts plan.
This is an example of what Americans all over the country will be dealing with if Obamacare remains the law of the land.

SINK THE KENNEDY SHRINE!
Massachusetts legislators have already dedicated almost $38 million towards the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate - yes, that's really what it's called. I call it the Edward M. Kennedy Shrine to Pork. During Kennedy's reign he pushed through enough pork to fill the trough to overflowing.
And this year his family is coming back for even more piggy funds -- I do believe they think of it as an entitlement - they want another $30 million in TAXPAYER funds to spend on the Shrine.
And this is during the worst recession in American history. The rich and powerful are at it again -- gimme, gimme, gimme.
The Kennedy family is rich, rich, rich. They have ubber rich friends. They should get ALL funding for the Shrine from their friends or their own bank accounts -- NOT THE BELEAGUERED TAXPAYERS - who, according to the CBO yesterday, are getting slapped with another $1.5 trillion in debt for 2011, thanks to millions of PORK projects just like the Kennedy Shrine.
We are at the tipping point, off the cliff, under water, call it what you want. We are BROKE. And no money should be spent on this Shrine or any other project that is not Constitutionally mandated. Be sure to enter your protest to the Kennedy Shrine at this link.
