CHOP STICKS, FORTUNE COOKIES & GOVERNMENT MOTORS

Yesterday the Detroit News caught the GM CEO admitting that Government Motors Chevy Volt could be built in China within a few years. But wait, just two weeks ago when Senator Stabenow voiced concerns about the Chinese gaining access to the Government Motors-developed green motor technology, GM said oh, don't be concerned, GM has no plans to build the Volt in China. So which of the CEO's statements are true? Good question.

But here's the real reason GM wants to build the Volt in China. China has a $19,000 per car subsidy for the buyer of electric vehicles, but China is refusing to apply the subsidy to electric car sales when the car is not made in China. In short, GM's imported Volt will cost $19,000 more than if it were built in China. But this is a flagrant World Trade Organization violation and is against China's own rules. Oh, those Chinese, they are just so clever, thumbing their noses at the WTO and at GM.

What else does China get from the "deal?" They get GM's Volt technology and trade secrets. The Chinese have a law that demands the transfer of "intellectual property," meaning "technology," to China in return for the use of Chinese labor to manufacture a product. This Chinese law does not apply to cars imported from the U.S that are not made in China, but China is ignoring their own rules and is treating the imported Volt the same as a made-in-China Volt. For GM to be allowed to build a China Volt factory GM must turn over to China electric vehicle technology that the U.S. developed and the tax payer paid for. This is also a WTO violation. China is licking their chops over this little tidbit because China's green vehicle technology is lagging far behind ours.

What has the "jobs" President done about this? Nothing. He is afraid of going to the WTO with a complaint against China on these two issues, though that's exactly the type of issue the WTO should address. Instead, he has agreed to let GM move electric car development to China. Oh, yes, he really cares about creating and keeping jobs in the U.S.

Where is the UAW on this? Who knows. They own a large part of GM. You'd expect the UAW members to be throwing a tantrum. Many of them will most likely lose their jobs when the Volt is only built in China within the next few years. But union management appears to be mum on the subject. They must not care when the Volt Made In America label becomes the Volt Made In China label. Union members, you've been had. You think the unemployment rate in the auto industry is high now? Just wait a couple of years. Better start training now for a different job because yours will be gone.

This is a great example of the lack of leadership in the Obama administration, the "pass-this-bill-now" jobs guy.

One other morsel of information I discovered while researching this subject. Shanghai is the site of GM's international headquarters. I understand that GM is a huge international company. But when Obama bailed them out and then put them into bankruptcy, did anyone see any bail-out save-the-company funds coming from China? What exactly did the U.S. taxpayer "save?" A huge international company with headquarters in Shanghai.

Welcome to the world of government stupidity.

FORD TAKES THE HIGH ROAD

Have you seen this Ford commercial? They are the only American auto company who did not take any bailout money. For that they have my utmost gratitude and respect. Ford has been rewarded with increasing sales numbers, so thank you America. They could have created an ad touting their refusal to participate in Obama's bail out program, but instead they created this ad. They have taken the High Road. Another indication of a very Classy Company. This is so good! Be sure to watch to the end.

GOVERNMENT MOTORS PAYS CEO COOL $9 MILLION

Wow, Reuters has reported that our car company, Government Motors, will pay our new CEO Akerson over $9 million in cash, salary and stock grants. In addition to that, they will pay Ex-CEO Whitacre $300,000 for serving on the GM Board of Directors for 4 months. Great jobs, if you can get 'em.

I see our new Pay Czar is really diligent in shrinking the CEO salaries of companies still on the taxpayer dole. That's what Obama was blabbing about when he took over GM. They're sure doing a great job, don't you think?

Funny how the math works. Toyota is solvent, in spite of their gas peddle problem, has lots of money in cash reserves, and their CEO makes $900,000 a year. BMW ties its executive bonuses to blue collar performance.

And then there's Government Motors. The company makes terrible business decisions, becomes insolvent, gets bailed out with taxpayer capital, files bankruptcy, and has minimal cash reserves. They fire their long term American ad agency and hire a French agency, with our tax dollars. They continue to get bail out money, and then they build a new plant in another country, not in America. Gee, who should we thank for this?

And then they award a newcomer with almost $10 million in compensation, and you can bet a new fleet of corporate jets will be on the way once their IPO is sold.

Our Government Motors sure knows how to game the system, and I'll bet they are laughing all the way to their Swiss bank accounts.

Thanks, Obama, for nothing.

GRAND THEFT AUTO = GM

General Motors pension plan is coming under scrutiny from both Dems and Reps. Isn't that great? Obama is finally getting what he is always blabbing about, Bipartisanship.

An independent investigator will look into the federal government's different treatment of unionized and salaried Delphi retirees' pension benefits. Delphi was a GM supplier, and GM took over Delphi assets and liabilities during the bankruptcy process. GM agreed to "top up" the pensions of Delphi blue-collar retirees (can you say UNIONS, UAW, electrical and communications workers' unions) so they wouldn't lose 30-70% of their benefits. GM did not agree to "top up" the pensions for 22,000 white collar Delphi retirees. Therein lies the problem.

Faster than you can say "Grand Theft Auto," those white collar workers lost 30-70% of their pension, 100% of their health care coverage and 100% of their life insurance.

At the same time GM was slicing and dicing benefits for white collar workers, GM retained 100% of its union pension obligations. To keep the union pensions and benefits in tact GM contributed then and will continue to contribute monthly "top-ups" that are funded by TARP money.

Did you get that? WE ARE GUARANTEEING THAT UNION WORKERS INVOLVED WITH GM WILL GET 100% OF THEIR PENSIONS, HEALTH CARE AND LIFE INSURANCE BENEFITS, WHILE WHITE COLLAR WORKERS GET NOTHING, AT THE SAME TIME THE U.S. IS SLIPPING QUICKLY INTO A FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC PIT-OF-NO-RETURN.

The big question now is whether Obama Administration officials and Obama himself "pressured the New GM to top-up" the Delphi retiree union pension plans and whether "political considerations played a role in favoring hourly over salaried retirees."

And that is why an investigation has been started by the Treasury Department.

What do you think the answer to that important question will be? Remember, it's Obama's Treasury Department doing the investigating. Anyone have any faith that they will get it right?

Kicked Out of Business By Obama & His Car Czar

Did you hear Rush today? A woman from Detroit, MI called in and this is what she told Rush.

She owned a Chrysler -Jeep dealership in Detroit during the Obama bail out of Chrysler. It was the ONLY Chrysler dealership in Detroit, and was one of the largest dealership in the country.

When Obama took over Chrysler she never expected her dealership to be affected because it was doing a great business, was profitable, and had been in business for years.

Guess what happened to her? One day she got a letter from the Federal Government telling her that she had 28 days to liquidate her inventory and close her dealership. Her contract with Chrysler was not being renewed. She had no choice. She sold everything at a huge loss, lost her livelihood, layed off all her employees, and lost everything she had in the dealership.

Rush asked her if she is a Republican. She said yes, she was. She then stated that as of today someone else was given the Detroit contract with Chrysler and that party now has a dealership, the only dealership in Detroit.

What do you want to bet that the new owner is a Democrat? When Obama took over Chrysler and GM I read some articles about them closing dealerships owned by Republicans, even profitable, viable dealerships, and not closing any dealerships owned by Democrats, even if not profitable and viable.

Google this and check it out. Probably lots of articles on the subject. And don't even think this couldn't happen. With Obama and his hoods anything can happen. They are underhanded crooks and will stop at nothing to enact their own agenda, no matter how illegal and unethical it is.

November here we come, and then two more years and they will all be history. Hopefully it won't take us more than one term to undo the damage they done to our country.

Too bad there is no hope for the woman from Detroit. She has lost everything and will never get it back.

GM fires American ad agency, hires France

Don't know if you all knew this when it happened early summer, but the advertising agency that brought us such memorable ad campaigns as "See the USA in Your Chevrolet" and "Like A Rock" has been fired by General Motors. Fired after 90 years of work for GM.

Campbell-Ewald is headquartered in Warren, MI (suburb of Detroit) in an area hardest hit by unemployment and job loss. GM has hired Publicis Worldwide, a French advertising company.

Remember, some of GM's upper management was put in place by the Obama Auto Czar to help turn the company around and create American jobs. Since the USA owns 61% of GM I would expect that the Auto Czar would have to sign off on this type of change at GM.

And the point is? Our tax dollars are now going to a French advertising company. Wonder how many French jobs will be created and how many American jobs will be lost?

Do you think Obama and Crew cares about us? Think again.

Auto Bail Out Fiasco - Tens of Thousands of Lost Jobs

Remember the bailout of GM and Chrysler by Washington? Well, at a time when the country was experiencing the worst economic downturn in generations and the Government and Obama's Auto Team (headed by Mr. Bloom, appointed to handle the bailouts) were asking the taxpayers to support a 787 billion dollar stimulus package designed primarily to preserve jobs, the Auto Team made a series of decisions that substantially contributed to the accelerated loss of tens of thousands of jobs due to closing thousands of dealerships. Their actions added many, many thousands to the unemployment rolls -- all based on a theory and without sufficient consideration of the decisions' broader economic impact.

When Mr. Bloom was asked specifically whether the Auto Team could have left the dealerships out of the restructurings he confirmed that the Auto Team "could have left any one component of the restructuring plan alone," but that doing so would have been inconsistent with the President's mandate for "shared sacrifice." So Obama's policy of "shared sacrifice" cost this country tens of thousands of jobs. Did he care? Doubtful.

And the "shared sacrifice" didn't extend to the GM bond holders. They got practically nothing out of their investment in the company, while the unions got most of what they wanted - guaranteed pensions, owning a large portion of the company, etc. Doesn't sound like "shared sacrifice" to me. Oh, I forgot, everyone shares in the sacrifice except the unions. That's par for the course for Obama and the Democrats.

Funny, isn't it, that Obama and the Auto Team were certain that dramatic and accelerated dealership closings were necessary immediately to help GM/Chrysler become viable again, and now these same companies have offered reinstatement to hundreds of dealerships without concern that such reinstatement would threaten their viability.

And remember the speed with which this happened? It had to be done IMMEDIATELY, it was crucial to "ACT QUICKLY," according to Obama and his Auto Team.

Just another joke perpetrated on us by our supposed president.

Be sure to vote in November. It's the most important election of our lives.
