STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES, OBAMA AND THE MOROCCAN POTTERY CAPER

OBAMA BETS ON MOROCCAN POTTERY, AND WE PAY, AND PAY, AND PAY, WITH BORROWED MONEY.  STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES.

Well, who’s really surprised?  Just another useless waste of money by the feds.  Another breach of government fiduciary responsibility.  27 million dollars went to Morocco to teach Moroccans how to make pottery.  What?  Haven’t Moroccans been making pottery for thousands of years, passing the skill from generation to generation?  Weren’t cavemen – oops, cave-women, making pottery?  What can the U. S. government teach them about pottery making?  Oh, hold on.  I figured it out.  They probably thought it was about POT, you know, the green grass, the funny weed, marijuana, free POT classes.

Well, it turns out the program attracted pottery students who showed up just to get the free lunches.  One pottery class reported that it had a grand total of 10 students, all eating free lunches compliments of the U. S. taxpayer, all while your American kid may be going hungry.

According to the Inspector General’s report on this program, the stated purpose, which started in 2009 under Obama’s tutelage, was an attempt to “improve the economic competitiveness of Morocco” by teaching them how to create and design pottery to sell in domestic and international markets.

The efficiency of our government is legendary.  An American pottery instructor was hired to head up the program.  Lucky duck, another government job.  Of course, there was a language barrier, so it was necessary to hire a translator.  Woo Hoo, another government job!   “Unfortunately, the translator was not fluent in English and was unable to transmit large portions of the lectures to the participants.”

The instructor “frequently forgot to bring the right materials to class,” and the dyes and clays he did use were not sold in Morocco, making it impossible for the students to replicate what they were supposedly learning.

The IG report concluded “the pottery training was ineffective, and women and youth were not included.”  No American company could get away with that.  The government would be suing them for “discrimination.”

Though the program was a miserable failure, I’m sure it fulfilled some goals – like providing high paying jobs and Cadillac benefits for large numbers of government employees at the GS-12 to GS-16 level.  If you think there was any goal other than to ensure government jobs, then you are very naive.  Remember, over 10 million of the 27 million spent was borrowed from China.  I get furious just thinking about it.

So here I am, wondering how many Veterans could have been helped with this money going to Morocco.  How many homes could have been saved, or how much medical care could have been provided.  Or how much our deficit would have decreased?  Who deserves our public dollar the most?  A Veteran who went to war for us?  Or some Moroccan laughing all the way to the free lunch line? No wonder America gets no respect in the world.  The decisions made by our government do nothing except illustrate to everyone that we are stupid, stupid, stupid.

And did you hear the one about the US government sending $832,000 to Africa to teach men how to wash their manhood after sex?  Really, Google it!  Your government at work.
