Obama drilling moratorium cost 23,000 jobs

Senior Obama administration officials concluded the federal moratorium on deep water oil drilling would cost roughly 23,000 jobs, but they went ahead with the ban because they did not trust the government's own inspection process. This is according to previously undisclosed documents recently released by the Justice Department due to a court order. So instead of improving the inspection process, it was goodbye jobs.

A federal judge in June threw out the first six-month moratorium saying the administration is "playing down the economic effects." But Obama and crew in some instances have not complied with the judge's order and continue to ban deep water drilling in the Gulf. They obviously think they are "above" the courts. Their arrogance is sickening.

The documents show the new top regulator of offshore oil exploration, Michael Bromwich, stated that a six-month moratorium would result in lost direct employment affecting 23,000 jobs. He also said that the loss of jobs would "resume normally once the rigs resume operation."

Mr. Bromwich apparently didn't know that the rigs would leave the gulf and never come back, which some have done. How could the man in charge of this drilling not be aware that the rigs would disappear?? The lost jobs are likely going to be a permanent loss, at least in part, and Obama and his henchmen didn't give a hoot. They stopped drilling anyway. Thanks, Obama.
